Queer Love Letters Workshops
What is Queer Love Letters?
For many of us, our stories have been shaped by silence — the things we couldn’t say, the ways we learned to hide, the identities we had to fight to claim. Queer Love Letters was born from a desire to reclaim those stories. Our sessions use creativity as both a mirror and a tool for transformation, expressing and celebrating queer narratives to write ourselves back into the world exactly as we are.
We draw on practices from psychotherapy, creative writing, visual art, and movement to help you connect with your authentic inner voice. There’s no pressure to share if you don’t want to — your process is yours to hold. But when you do feel ready, the room offers a community that listens without judgement, where your truth is met with respect, curiosity, and care.
What do we do?
Each session is slightly different but generally we start by grounding together through breath-work, meditation, or gentle movement, creating a sense of safety and presence. From there, we move into creative prompts and exercises designed to connect with and ignite your imagination, to connect to your memory and story.
Throughout, we hold space for reflection, discussion, and connection. Every exercise can be adapted to suit your comfort level — there’s no “right” way to take part. Some people create intricate, layered pieces; others scribble fragments or images. Both are celebrated equally.
By the end of each workshop, you’ll leave with something tangible you’ve created — a letter, a drawing, a poem, or a mix of them all — and, more importantly, a deeper connection to your own voice and the queer community around you.
🌈 Queer Love Letters Booklet
Stories, art, and reflections from the Queer Spaces community
Our Queer Love Letters booklet is a tender archive of queer connection, resistance, and self-expression. Co-created through our creative wellbeing workshops and in collaboration with the University of East London, it brings together personal letters, artwork, prompts, and poetic fragments — each one a love note to someone, something, or somewhere that holds meaning.
This booklet captures the raw beauty of queer storytelling. Within its pages, you’ll find offerings to lovers, friends, ancestors, chosen family, pets — and to the self.
It is more than a publication. It’s a quiet protest, a gesture of care, and a celebration of queer lives told in our own words and images.
Created by facilitators and queer psychotherapists Guy Harries, Yasmeen Brett, and Katie Merritt, and supported by Dr Nikolaos Souvlakis (University of Westminster), this project reflects our belief that creativity and collective expression are powerful forms of healing.
